Situated in the centre of the small and quiet fishing village Fažana, only 20 meters from the sea, Villetta Phasiana offers the experience of peaceful Mediterranean living, far away from everyday stress. The same building, dating from the 16th century, received its first guests more than 100 years ago when it was a mansion for merchants and travellers coming to Fažana. At the end of the 19th century, Fažana developed economically, especially thanks to the Austrian businessman Paul Kupelwieser, who in 1893 decided to buy Brioni islands. In the next two decades through considerable investments and the help of Robert Koch, later a Nobel Prize winner, he transformed, the malarial and unapproachable islands, into a small heaven on earth, which soon became elite tourist destination.

After the Second World War Brioni islands became the residence of the Yugoslav president Tito, closed for public like Fažana itself, and the building of Villetta Phasiana was abandoned and over the next 50 years completely ruined.

In 2007 Villetta Phasiana was finished and the building was renovated with much attention to every detail, preserving every stone wherever possible. At the same time it was equipped with modern technology, combining in a perfect way old with new. Today every passenger who passes by Villetta Phasiana is curious to look into the most beautiful building in the old town of Fažana.

With its 18 charming rooms with view on small fishing port and the Brioni archipelago, Villetta Phasiana offers a warm and intimate atmosphere where every guest can find peace and tranquillity. In the hidden Istrian-style garden, in the bar La Barchetta, or on the bar terrace where the light wind brings the unique fragrance of the sea, everyone has an opportunity to experience the stillness of small Mediterranean village.

Situated at walking distance from the old town, the beaches covered with fragrant pinettas extend both north and south of Fazana. The rocky configuration of the sea-bed and the mild current between the mainland and the islands of neighboring Brioni, make the water crystal-clear. Apart from quiet beaches Brioni islands offer golf, polo, tennis, riding and biking.

Only 5 km from Pula, famous for one of the world’s best preserved Roman amphitheatres and only 12 km from Pula international airport, Fažana is easily reachable but still isolated from crowds and noise. As a small fishing village Fažana promotes its tradition and is well known for its Fishing academy “Pilchard” among many gastronomy, wine and olive oil festivals. And within an hour of journey by car one can reach an Istrian inland, a Toscan-like landscape, home of Tartuffe and place where one can taste different dishes prepared with that magic mushroom.
