You'll enjoy the City of Roses as you view an incredible rose garden, hike the nature trails, visit historic sights and museums, tour wineries, golf, or after a day of shopping relax on the spacious deck. You can sip a cup of tea while viewing a deep, terraced backyard before enjoying one of Portland's fine restaurants. Be sure to pack lots of film because there will be limitless "Kodak moments." Also, your innkeeper can provide you with many more suggestions for all-day or Portland distinctive sites to visit in addition to the ones noted:

Close to it All! Day Trips (self-guided driving tours)

Columbia River Gorge. There are 18 hiking trails and multiple waterfalls (including the magnificent Multnomah Falls), lakes, and recreation areas along the 68 mile Gorge between Portland and The Dalles. The innkeeper's copy of "Hiking the Columbia Gorge" gives specifics regarding the distance, difficulty, traffic and maximum elevation of each trail.

Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center is located 45 minutes east of Portland in Stevenson, Washington. You can view a working Corliss steam engine, the world's largest rosary collection and local Native American artifacts.

The Oregon Garden is located 40 miles southeast of Portland. The 240 acre botanical garden has numerous theme areas, including Wetlands, Rose, Conifer, Children's Gardens and Northwest. Plant and flower lovers will find this garden a "heavenly" paradise. Silver Falls State Park is nearby.

North Willamette Valley Wine Country. There are 46 wineries and over 5,000 acres of grapes. In the winery guide, maps, descriptions, and tour dates/times are listed.

An outing to Mount St. Helen, "the mountain that blew her top," a joyride to our awesome Mt. Hood, or a spin to the Oregon coast to view its majestic beauty and renown sites (including Fort Stevens State Park) are a must for many travelers, too.
